FRACT/ONS Review

Kyle Valdepena has us biting our tongues; our badmouthing about Fruity Loops (song-making software) has been proven a too-hasty judgement in the face of Foxen's new, self-titled album. Take a chance on this electronic album and you'll immediately fall into "Ghost Channel," a track that blends simple melody with manipulated vocal samples in a rare touch of non-cliche sampled voice over.

The album is an enjoyable listen from the pitter-patter beat of "Mice on Guard" to the off balance trot of "Rapter" and the almost drunken beginning of D.N.C. If Foxen continues to experiment with its brand of pop-injected electronic music, we agree with "Mousing's" repeated sample, stating, "This is a dangerous group we're dealing with."

Recommended for fans of  Postal Service, Air, and ISAN.

Foxen is minimal, computerized pop out of Wichita, KS from the mind of Kyle Valdepena.
